Twenty Years of Aliens And Artistry
Since I was the age of eight I was surrounded by Tattooing. With the help of family friend and tattoo artist, Todd Evans, I was offered an apprenticeship at the age of ten, however my mother felt I was to young at the time. But at the age of almost fifteen, I would have an opportunity to apprentice again, from my first tattoo artist and long time friend Dan Olah. Even though this apprenticeship was not as in depth as could be, it still taught me the fundamentals of tattooing, and got my foot in the door. In the years that followed, I would experiment with different methods and styles of tattooing. I would hang out at local tattooing studios and ask questions about methods and techniques. Sometimes I would find answers and sometimes denial from other artist not willing to share their knowledge. After working out of my parents house and a hand full of local studios, I realized I was very unhappy with the conditions that most studios were offering customers. When I worked out of my parents house as a teenager, my studio was always clean sterile and free of clutter. I came to the realization that I wanted to open my own tattoo studio that would offer a safe, clean, and sterile environment. I also wanted people to come to me with their ideas instead of just doing designs from the studios walls. I wanted to become a completely custom tattooing studio. With this in mind I opened Exotic Body Works on my 21st birthday on March 4th 1996. My studio is still one of the few tattooing establishments in South Jersey where tattooing is done behind partial half walls where customers can see what is going on. My idea was to break down the taboos and stereotypes of tattooing by enabling the public to watch a tattoo be performed. Now, with almost 15 years of being a premier tattooing establishment and being published in over 40 magazines and newspapers and winning numerous awards for my tattoo work, Exotic Body works is at the top of its game. My studio has grown to include 2 other tattoo artist, body piercing, tattoo and piercing related products, and body jewelry. Now with Exotic Body Works in the Tattoo industry, I hope to continue to grow with my skill and knowledge of tattooing. Over the years, I have developed many different styles of tattooing. My styles of tattooing include: portraits (black-n-grey), black and grey, bio-mech, or organic bio-mech, color work, new school, neo-traditional, Japanese, realism, tribal, and expert cover-ups. I have a very strong reputation for my color work, portraits,custom free-hand, and my bio-mech work. My cover-up work is very sought after. I am willing to cover almost any tattoo or scar. As a tattoo artist I enjoy my art form and look forward to new ideas, knowledge, and most of all challenges. I am very comfortable in what I do and I have many years of experience.
